Police Department in Pine Bluff investigating Monday morning homicide
Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Officers from the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to a gunshot at 2709 S. Georgia on March 4, 2024, just after three in the morning.
When the police arrived, they found Austen McAfee, 24, who had been shot in the chest. After becoming unconscious, McAfee was declared dead on the spot by Jefferson County Coroner’s deputies.
According to McAfee’s relatives, he witnessed someone breaking into his vehicle while it was parked. He ventured outside to address them.
McAfee was hit by one of the bullets fired by the person or people breaking into the car as they fled while retaliating.
The inquiry into this homicide is currently in its early phases. As of right now, no suspicious information needs to be disclosed.
