Annual Farm Day is held by A-State
Jonesboro, Arkansas – An annual tradition continued at Arkansas State University, beginning in 2007.
On campus, the College of Agriculture at A-State had its yearly Bill and Alice Nix Farm Fay.
In addition to petting cattle, guests could explore the college’s fields, animal facilities, and other areas.
Finding out the source of one’s food is an educational experience, according to Dean of Agriculture Mickey Latour.
“We think it’s critically important for people to know where their food comes from, and how these animals contribute to that,” Latour explained.
The dean anticipated hundreds of people if not more, to be present.
“I know that this is something the university cherishes having all these people here on campus and seeing our facilities, but I’m predicting anywhere from 900-1,000 plus today. Just a beautiful day,” Latour added.
Today, a veterinarian was also there to instruct attendees on the appropriate maintenance of companion animals.
