ArDOT gets ready for a surge in traffic during the eclipse
Little Rock, Arkansas – The goal of the Arkansas Department of Transportation is to lessen traffic during the next solar eclipse.
In order to keep everyone safe and ensure smooth traffic flow, workers have been clearing roads and patching potholes.
“We are expecting anywhere from as low as 300,000 to 1.5 million people,” Dave Parker with ArDOT said.
According to Parker, Interstate 40, which runs from Conway to Russellville, and Interstate 30, which connects Texarkana to Little Rock, might pose the greatest risks.
Parker emphasized the significance of drivers being organized as well.
“I am encouraging everyone to treat it like a snow event,” he said. “What would you need in your car if you got stuck in a massive backup on I-40 for five hours?”
