South America receives eclipse glasses from the city of Jonesboro
Jonesboro, Arkansas – In preparation for their annular solar eclipse in a few months, the city of Jonesboro gathered more than 50,000 pairs of eclipse glasses to deliver to South America.
The local school districts also boxed up all of their glasses.
According to Brian Richardson, chief administrative officer of Jonesboro, it feels fantastic to know that everyone is assisting folks in South America in having an amazing experience.
“We worked with school districts to get them all together and it is a great example of recycling these glasses.,” said Richardson.
According to Richardson, only at city hall, between 10,000 and 15,000 cups were seized.
He went on to say that it was fantastic to watch the children pitch in and recycle glasses that otherwise would have ended up in landfills and are now in the hands of useful people.
