City’s communications director is a former employee of K8 News
Jonesboro, Arkansas – On Friday, the city of Jonesboro was represented by a face that regular viewers of K8 News would recognize.
It was announced on Wednesday by Mayor Harold Copenhaver that Donna Malone has been appointed director of communications.
Malone, a native of Blytheville, received a Bachelor of Science in radio and television from the College of Communications at Arkansas State University.
The new director was introduced to the Jonesboro community during a mixer at the Jonesboro Municipal Center on Friday, May 3.
She began her career as a reporter, anchor, and news director after graduating, and she then moved to Stuttgart to work as the chief marketing officer of Farmers & Merchants Bank.
Her most recent employer, according to the press announcement, was East Arkansas Broadcasting.
“I’m honored by this opportunity to serve the community I’ve loved for decades,” Malone said. “The talented staff in the Jonesboro Communications Department is extraordinary and I look forward to engaging with all facets of the community.”
“Her background in radio and television, as well as her history in Jonesboro, provides exactly what we need to lead the communications department,” Copenhaver said. “The communications department is a critical tool for transparency and educating the community on city business. I look forward to Donna’s ideas on how we can make advancements in this area.”
April 29, Monday, was her first day.
