Investigation leads to murder charge in the July 4th shooting in Little Rock
Little Rock, Arkansas – On July 4, 2023, officers from the Southwest Patrol were called to respond to a reported shooting in Little Rock at 3801 Baseline Road. At the scene, they apprehended Ollie Jones, who justified his actions as self-defense.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Jalen Johnson, an African American male, on the second floor of the apartment complex. He had sustained gunshot wounds and despite the life-saving efforts made by MEMS, Mr. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. Consequently, Homicide Detectives were alerted and the Pulaski County Coroner took charge of Mr. Johnson’s remains for post-mortem examination.
Following a preliminary investigation by the Crime Scene Search Unit and detectives, Jones was arrested and subsequently charged with First Degree Murder. This incident is currently under active investigation within the Southwest Division.
